whats the proper lighting for growing chaeto quick?

    I've never used a UV oriented bulb like that. Not joking but I dont know if the UV can give it a 'sunburn'. I use a 6500 bulb from home depot & a $5 shop light with reflector and have no problems & great growth.

    I don't know what the PAR or actual color spectrum is on the reptile bulb. Not too certain that the wrong spectrum won't cause a major nuisance algae bloom and starve out the chaeto. If you really want to use a specialized bulb for faster growth, a grow bulb for planted tanks would be a better choice, IMHO.

    +2 on avoiding a UV bulb. Light temperature rating of 5100K to 6500K is the range you want.
