Ayup, just don't try it with the non-acetone variety or you'll end up with carpal tunnel before realizing that it won't take off the glue :D

That's something I have also done! When I got my Octopus skimmer, I had a heck of a time getting it started for the first time (manual siphon). Had to keep trying for about 2-3 hours. Spent the next 2-3 days hovering over the toilet.

probably the worst thing I did was after I had a fire behind my tank I unplugged everything, then went to bare necessaity until I got my new tank etc. I did not plug back in my chiller nor did I drain it. A week or so later I go to remove the chiller and yanked the hose out of the sump and drained a ton of foul smelling, rotten egg, dead pig, chicken poo smelling water onto my carpet. The next smell was me puking immediately!

I could not get the smell out for a while......not only did my house smell from the small fire but now the gas! I left my house for a bit that day it stank so bad

Well, you try not too! ;) On my skimmer, you have to keep sucking, even when you get water. Now, think of that, and I probably did that at least 50 times. Whether you try not to swallow or not, stuffs going down the hatch! And it is terrible, terrible, terrible for the next 72 hours.
