Whats this clear stringy thing

    hi guys,

    Have loads of these coming out of 1 rock - there up to 2" lonk have a kinda round bit on the end, and the string it has loads of tiny tendrils coming off it

    having looked at some pics of these on google i'd say not - as theres only 1 coming out of one place they are scattered all over the rock coming out from different places, they are kinda translcuent - have a round tip and have lil tendrils /spikes coming of the stringy bit, thanks for the resonse though

    If it periodically retracts into the rock, I would say you have a benthic ctenophore (comb jelly).

    yeah it does retractnow and then, so are they good or bad? andif bad how do i get rid of them?

    It could also be a digitated hydroid (bad)

    My first thought was that if it is green and appears segmented and sessile (doesn't move at all), maybe curly, it could be a macroalgea

    I would have to say digitate hydroids. I had em and tore my tank down due to them. Can you get a pic to confirm.
