Trigger was my first guess, but since it seemed to happen at night I'm thinking the giant sponge crab.

The trigger is pretty bad with crabs. When I first put him in the tank he ate a few crabs right away but right now he doesnt really bother them. He might nip at them but I have about 10 crabs in there now and they have figured out to only come out at night while he is asleep. I dont really think it was the trigger because he doesnt come out at night and the clown was swimming inches away from him all day without any aggression from the trigger. As much as I really like a skunk clown I dont think ill be getting another one just stick with the black and whites that I really want.

Here is a little update. Everything is doing great as of now. My goby is cleaning the heck out of my sand. Torch and candy cane are looking good. And my nem is big and full but he likes to hang out in the back of the tank hopefully one day he will move to a better spot. Sorry for the bad cell phone pics still need to upgrade my camera.

My shrimp loves nori more than any fish I have haha.

    Lookin good!

Don't u love when the nems hide like that? I have mine on a rock that I can move if he moves

You can put a nano power head pointing at him and it might entice him to move... But make sure that its not too powerful

    Keep up the nice work!

    Very expensive mistake!

So this week I have had to learn the hard way about a check valve and remembering to shut off your RO system. First I tripped a fuse and my tank lost power. This would have been ok if I had a big enough sump or a check valve on my return but I didn’t. Moral of the story is have a check valve or siphon break that way your return doesn’t cause your sump to over flow. I lost probably 10 gallons of water. I cleaned it up best I could and didn’t see any negative effects. The other night on Sunday I was filling up a top off bucket in the bath tub. Well after my boys ate dinner they needed a bath and I took the bucket out that was only half full at the time. I forgot to put it back in the tub and my wife and I went downstairs to play zombies on call of duty. It was probably 3 hours later before I remembered that I forgot the RO machine. In the end it is costing me $6,000 to get everything fixed including carpet in the whole house, drying out drywall, and getting the sub floor replaced upstairs. Good thing for home owners insurance because all I have to pay is my $1,000 deductible. Moral of the story is take every precaution you can to cover your butt or you will have huge floods and learn the hard way like me.

Sorry to hear your issues, although I am sure any experienced reef keeper will say "Been there; done that!".

Just to follow up, even if you use a check valve (which I do), you still want to make sure you have room in your sump in case it fails. Second, I have overflowed my RO/DI top-off container so many times I finally went and bought a float valve for it. Problem solved!
