I'm hoping someone might know what these red things are growing on the stems of my trumpet coral. I noticed them a while back. They can't be much taller than 1/4" or 5/16". They are reddish brown, and look like tiny palm trees or really thin pom-poms.
Just want to know if they are safe or not, and if not how to take 'em out.
    Thanks.

I'll search hydroids and see if I can find a better pic online.
What's the best way to kill them? Pick them off with tweezers?

Can't find any pics of hydroids that look like what's on my trumpets?
Any other ideas, or is this just a different kind?
