Looks like a down draft set up. Is there an air intake at the top somewhere close to where the hookup is for the PH? Also, what kind of PH drove that thing? How old do you think it is? If there are no markings on the unit, how big is the footprint and how tall is the skimmer. Then I can compare it to mine.

There are no markings on it as for a brand name, Id have to say skimmer is 36-42" tall with a footprint of 8"x16" pump was an old magnetic driven pump comparable in size to a reeflow snapper or a mag 18 maybe. I highly doubt its only worth 50 bux, my lfs store has a similar model without a pump brand new for 800 bux but i didnt ask to much about it. It does have an airtake on the top pharmrjohn, it is some kind of downdraft skimmer...was fed with 3/4" tubing.

Yeah, I would say that thing could support up to about 600+ gallons (lightly stocked). My ETSS will do 300g lightly stocked and I paid a bill for that used. If it is in pristine condition and you can dig up a used Mag 18, I would try for about $500-$600. Ask Tangster what he would sell it for. I would PM him for sure.

it looks like a DIY. or atleast a very small company.

it looks like you cant remove the cup to clean it you have to use the wasteline. it looks like a pain in the butt to me.
it looks too big for any hobbiest with out a dedicated room to house. and it looks too old for me to buy if i was setting up a couple hundred gallon tank. i would buy a monster with a couple recirculating needle wheel pumps given the chance.

i am kinda cheap, but i think you over estimate the resale value of a skimmer, especially one with out a pump(and it looks like the pump needs to be really powerful). i got my coralife 125 for 35 dollars and that came with a pump.

it did probably get top dollar in its prime though. in its prime is the key phrase though

thats just my take on it, but i hope im wrong and you stumbled on to a lil gold mine.

I definitely think its a DIY skimmer. If it came off a 400g tank, then I would have to assume its rated for a tank between 400-600 gals. I would try to get as much info as I could to be able to get a good idea of what its worth. I disagree with Sostoudt, I think its worth more than $50. Without having any other info to go on and no pump, I would have to say its worth about $100-$200. It looks like its in great condition and well made too. Luna
