wont be totally your fault. but maybe some research shoulda been done, or the lfs , if thats where you bought it , should have told you more and found out your tank history. but i can see why you would want one. i waited a painful year , lol. to get one myself. ive had it over a month now, and its very active and moves all over my tank. good luck jules,

    guy

I'm sorry Clay, but that make's no sense lol! They require pristine water conditions, and absolutely do not tolerate salinity swings. But I don't see how a starfish can demand RO water ;)

I just wanted to give my two pennies on linkias though. Linkias are better off left in the ocean. I don't even know what percent actually live that long in the home aquarium, but I know it is extremely low. To be brutally honest, the pet store's make decent money on them, largely for the fact they(most anyways) know they do not last long in captivity and the customer can and often do try out one or more of these beautiful species before reading up on their requirements. Most perish from lack of food, because we actually don't know what they specifically eat. I have heard of more success stories in larger aquariums, so I suspect they may be eating various fillimentous algae, possibly even different types of forams and other crustaceans in the sand/rocks. Please, if anyone is reading this and is thinking about getting one, just pass. Better yet, tell the pet store they don't live that long and would be better off where they came from :)

On the other hand, their are people who have had success with them, there's just not too many that have.
