Over the past 2 days my BTA has relocated to the bottom of my tank and has been spitting some kind milky fluid from it's mouth. The day before that (3 days ago) I found him detached from any rock upside down when I woke up in the morning. I believe this spitting is making the entire water column cloudy and I'm not sure what to do about it. Any ideas on what's it's doing? It won't take any food. These events started to take place after my last water change. All water parameters seemed to be ok except my nitrates are about 20pmm (which is where they've been for the last year that the BTA has been in the tank).

The BTA does not appear to be bleached but is he spitting out his zooxanthellae?

I'll try to see if I can catch it doing it when the lights come on. The stuff isn't stringy, it almost looks like the nem is smoking under water.

I think the spitting is sperm.

Go figure. Its been a pretty normal day so far. No spitting of anything. The nem even ate a small silverside. Interesting theory on the sperm thing, I couldn't find any info on nems doing that but I'm hopeful that what it was.

if it looks fine otherwise it could have been pooping, if you have fed it squid then its poop will be white.
