I bought a pair of clowns on 8/5 from my LFS. They were fine in the tank there and fine in mine for about a week. Since then they have been chasing each other, nipping, etc. Lotta people here told me it was establishing dominance and it should be fine. Well for two days one of them has been acting funny and last night my girlfriend and I noticed something weird on the ones chin. Up until just now it seemed fine (swimming, eating, etc.) but I just feed the clowns and my new PJ cardinal and he didn't eat or swim to get food for that matter.

After another quick look he's just kinda laying in the sand. That thing that I thought was just on his chin actually looks like it goes through to his mouth, almost like a blister or sore.

Another look, he's kinda just floating under a rock. Anything to be worried about? I'm content with losing one as I've has pretty bad luck in a year but I just wanna make sure it doesn't effect the others.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sometimes clownfish get these from too aggressively cleaning, sometimes from battle and sometimes a small wound can get infected if the fish is being bullied and stressed. Not all conflicts for dominance end well with clownfish. You could try Melafix.

    Good luck

Does not sound like anything that will spread, but it's always a gamble. Myself I would not be worried.

My Clown developed a sore on it's jaw, and garlic in the food seemed to help this problem. It sounds like you may be facing a whole different illness than I had, but it doesn't hurt to add it to their food in any case. You may be to far along by this point, so Corailline's advice seems to be more on top of things, but if you ever notice sores or open wounds, natural garlic seemed to help mine. Best of luck.

Yeah I soak all my food in garlic and until tonite it was eating. I'm just debating on whether or not to just get it out now or see how it is in the morning. Although it doesn't seem to be doin well....
