It is a dry heat, yeah right !
A FW dip is fine, as long as it's a short one. SW causes less stress IMO, unless your are treating for flatworms or similar pest, SW with Coral RX or lugols would be better.

At this point I would google Zoanthid poxs and see if it looks similar, whole different ball game, not really that time of year yet but it could be it.

Other than that if you see no pests and you have already dipped I would just leave them be unless you decide it's poxs.

I looked into pox and I don't think that's it. I'm going to stop messing with them and hope for the best! I'll try a midnight pest search again too.

Hi pafc64! I had seen that link... That's how I ID'd the hydroids but I'd forgotten to bookmark it for future reference. It's bookmarked now! Thanks!

I guess my question now is... How long do I wait? I'd love for it to make a comeback, but when do I know it's a lost cause? If this one were to die, how long should I wait before getting another? Since my other corals are fine, should I assume it's something that just bugs zoanthids? Will I be able to get another zoanthid at at later date?

I want to be a conscientious aquarist and don't want to buy things that won't thrive in my tank. I know patience is key, and I think my hubby and I have done a pretty good job with research and not buying corals or fish on impulse...

Thanks all for the input. I really appreciate this forum!
