Fish tanks always make a fabulous interior decoration in our home. Love to add beautiful and safe inside of the tank to enhance the overall look. I am just planning to decorate my 50 gallon reef tank for Halloween/ Christmas. Excited to know your favorite stores to buy beautiful tank decor at affordable prices.
Well, I just purchased a PETCO Greek Temple Ruins Aquarium Ornament.

I must first say that I have fake rock decorations in my tank. But that being said, I try to keep it looking natural. Not many skull caves in a reef.:) That's just my opinion lets see what everyone else is doing.

+1 natural looks, but I would consider getting something for the holidays for a week or two just for fun (no idea where I would get them though so I'll keep an eye out). :)

if those greek type columns were stone and not plastic, I would love to put it in my tank... I am all for adding neat things that can also be used for biological filtration... but not real big on plastic...

    that being said...

I think the frag tank TP/Jwin have is rad.

Someone else has a plane wreck in theres (little plastic plane they have anchored into the rock) and i think that is just awesome.

I have seen a neat Spongebob little scene in someone else's tank.

I am saving up large skulls of various animals that I will clean and use as LR in my next tank. Eventually it will be corallined up w/coral growing on them and hard to see... but I still like the idea...

I don't get wrapped around the natural thing because, well frankly, i've yet to see a tank look natural. Every natural reef I've seen in person or on TV is like acres of one type of coral before you get to the next... our tanks are a huge mixed in variety of corals and fish from around the world... not to mention they're in a glass box... I gave up on the natural look before i even started ;) though I still try to make it look natural in that I hide frag plugs, etc...

    now i'm rambling...

Are you sure those skulls won't just decompose in the tank? I don't know, just wondering if you've checked into it.

Agree with not being able to be 100% true to nature, otherwise it might be a bit boring with one single acro colony in a 450gallon tank. It's a bit like having a garden from my perspective, you don't see many nicely manicured, well laid out garden-type scenes in nature but a garden is still all natural materials.

Not trying to convince others to NOT put this stuff in their tank, do whatever you like in your tank, it's yours, just sharing my thoughts. :)

That actually is pretty cool. Starting to change my opinion on them now.

you are correct of course. i guess it depends on the type of "natural" you're going for.

Yes, I am pretty sure the skulls will decompose... eventually. In much the same way snail shells decompose eventually. As long as they're not support structures and just on or around the rock, shouldn't be an issue.
