So I have read a few threads lately about water changes. Do you all think it would be better to do 1 gallon a day or 15% weekly or 30% bi-weekly or 50% monthly?

It will be a reef 40 Gallon breeder with a 20G sump.

I am just tossing this out to try and get an idea of what kinda schedule I will maintain for my tank. This tank will be at my store so doing a little everyday will be no more of a pain then doing a lot monthly or bi weekly.

the smaller but more frequent are the best, but its really about what you can maintain. very few people will remember to do 1 gallon every day

50% at one time is way too much. I do 15-20% every two weeks.

I have heard a few people on here say they dont do water chages really anymore. Maybe 1 every couple of months. They just test and suplement.

But I agree smaller is better than larger. 50JumpChump

The smaller changes more frequent are better, plus you are better able to maintain constant water parameters and stability much easier. I do about 10% a week.

I think smaller and more frequent being better is debatable. Not saying they're bad... just don't completely agree they're better.

They both work. As stated 50% is too much for anything other than some crazy emergency situation.

I do 10% every few months. I test weekly. I supplement (2 part) daily (you have to supplement most salt mixes anyway) along with my top off water.
