I need to add a skimmer ASAP.. i keep getting mixed responses on what to use on a tank this size. Any suggestions? Looking for something reasonably priced, but efficient and will get the job done. only filtration right now is a POS Regent filter that came with the tank when i bought it from joe donut across the street. I was thinking of atleast getting a bio-wheel but the filter seems to actually be doing decent with the chemi-pure and constant water changes. Budget is limited and im building piece by piece- should i buy a skimmer and run that set up untill i finally break down and buy a bigger one??

a skimmer is always a usefull addition on any set up, but if you are upgrading
keep your existing bioload and filtration system if its working for you
then when you do upgrade get a skimmer suitable for the new sized tank

    just my opinion

A cheap skimmer that you can use if you upgrade is the Coralife Super Skimmer 65... Its not the best but for the cost it will do a great job on your tank and like I said a future upgrade if that happens...
You can get one for under $100 I am sure.

    Welcome!

Like Dr. Frag said the coalife super skimmer 65 would do, I have one and it was really aggravating before I got my sump. The adjustment knob is very touchy and with no sump the water level in the dt changes due to evaporation and you constantly have to keep adjusting it. It's in sump now and is doing great. Since the water level stays the same I haven't had to change the adjustment knob in months. Good skimmer for the money.
