When can i start my nitrate bio balls filter for a new uncycled tank????

    When can i start my nitrate bio balls filter for a new uncycled tank????
    wait untill nitrate become zero or what???
    as you know nitrate filter need some time to cultivate anaerobic bacteria...

    Never.Use rubble rock instead,it has much,much more surface area as well as low o2 zones deep within the porus rock for both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria growth that bioballs does not provide.If you are starting or cycling a tank,now is the time to add it.

    i already have a nitrate filter ... and want to operate it ....
    and also i have alot of rocks in my tank .....
