I purchased some great looking Chaeto from reef cleaners and one of our own 3reefer Eddie..

    Kudos to both.

Is this enough chateo or do I need to add more. I have heard to much chaeto is bad.

    Thanks

I beleive there is no need to add more, it will grow anyway. At least that's what mine did. I had less than you have and now the whole fuge is full of it :)

I would say you have enough for now. it will grow and you will have to start thinning it out to have room to let it grow. I thin my fuge out about once a month not a lot but a little bit.

    Found it!
Yes, advice is all good. As long as there is poop to spare, the chaeto will flourish in most any lighting conditions. If your tank is new, the chaeto might not have a lot of byproducts to feed on yet, but that would be rare. Speaking of rare, I rarely feed my chaeto fuge a little Fe/Mn solution (Iron/Manganese) by seachem. It probably doesn't need it, but I have noticed that it darkens and grows a bit faster. You should also notice an increase in your pod population. You may want to "rinse" your chaeto at least every time you do a water change, just take it out and rinse particulates out in a bucket of the old water. The chaeto does not grow roots, and so will not attach to things like other algaes can...and will. It does not re-release nutrients when pruned, like other macro algaes can, and do. You made a good choice in chaeto.

I started off with a softball suze and it grows quickly. In no time I had about the size of a basketball lol.
