here is a picture of my refugium a few months ago when i added a handful of chaeto.

and this is my chaeto now!! it has completely taken over my refugium section top to bottom left to right.

i have yet to remove any just because im not sure when to much is too much.. i have had zero nitrates since it has been growing and it is riddled with pods.. but i think it is finally becoming too much inside of my refugium.

question is, when are you suppose to trim your chaeto? and can you have to much?

You have too much when the bottom sections doesn't get enough light and dies. Which means you should looks at the bottom, and trim if it's too dark. Tumbling the chaeto will let you have more, which means more nutrients you can export at a time.

Yea I posted a craigslist ad and got rid of some. Unfortunatly I don't have any friends that have sw aquariums to give it too.

Ok ill take a look at the bottom side and see how the light pentration looks... its a shame just tossing it in the trash.

That or a trade. I think it would be quite possible. They may also be able to hook you up with someone who would like some.

It's also very easy to ship.

I trim mine when it starts to overhang the baffles in my sump.
