when to seed a new tank

    just started up my 125 tank, it has 150 lbs of dry rock and 120 lbs of live sand. Need to know when to add some live rock to my tank. wait until it cycles or add it now. thanks

    Now would be good, it'll add some bacteria for the cycle too.

    Might also see if you can get a cup of sand from a local reefer to kick thing into gear too

    Agree with the above, add it now and try to get a cup of sand from someone. By the time your tank cycles, it will be crawling with critters :thumb_up:

    From what I've always been told and done on my tanks is put the live rock in from the get go if not when you do add it the tank is going to go right back to having to recycle again before livestock can be added in.
