Hello everyone question time again with uncle. So I am starting a tank and wondering when is the right time to start a refugium? Right when I put the LR in or what? And what would be a good size for a 60 gal, its going to be a hang of the back. Thank you kindly.

you can start a refugium any time. there is no downside to one that im aware of. with refugiums usually the bigger the better, i don't know your space options are or what your willing to work with or spend so i cant recommend a size.

It would be best to set it up before you start everything else I would imagine. Otherwise you'll have to find another way to move water while you're installing the fuge. If you do it with living creatures in there it will make it more complicated.

ASAP if you're gonna do it, 5-10 gal should be plenty big enough

So I got a refugium and the problem is the pump that came with it is the loudest thing in the tank and kind of humms and vibrates the tank, stand, and the ground around it.
Do I have a bad pump? Do you guys know of any pumps that are know for being quite?
