Try looking for them at night with a flashlight. Lots of critters come out at night and flashlight makes everything stand out. I though my emerald crab had died when I found his poor lifeless carcass at the bottom of the tank. But the next day I found him hiding in the LR. Must have molted and was hiding. Anyway, you may find they are still there.

If regular water changes are being performed, iodine need not be added.

That would depend on how many polyps/softies that you had. I have well over 4-5000 polyps of zoos and 300-400 ric polyps and I dose 3-5 capfulls every other day based on consumption(190 total gl). I try to keep it at 0.08 mg/l according to the seachem test. If I fall below that then I notice polyp closure/stress/stubborn attitude/slower growth. I do not dose iodide for crabs/snails as my investment is in corals-so I cant say yes or no to the health-as I have never paid attention to them(crabs-snails-shrimp). They all seem to do well in my system though.
Have you noticed any loud popping or snapping noises? Good luck!:)
