    i got my mandarin at the LFS.. they had females and males..
    i didnt know which one it was at the time, but i just chose the biggest one that ate the frozen food with the big dorsal fin:p

    I like them more then the green mandarins, also red stands out more under actinic light better then green and blue

    My lfs can order me any fish, yours might be able to also if you have a reliable store

    I came across my male Mandarin at a LFS. I tried for quite a while at different stores to place an order for the red variation, but they couldn't order by color. A place north of Chicago got in four red females, so I had to make a 1 1/2 hour drive one way to get her. :p Mine are about the size ratio as the posted picture.
