Where can I get cheap bags of aragonite sand silicate free ??

I know home depot sells 50b bags of quikcrete play sand, but it is ful of silicates. I dont want crushed coral or oyster shells etc.

I want silicate free aragonite... and I dont want to pay $15 for a 20lb bag.

Anyone know of any brands that I could pick up from a local garden store or anything that is silicate free reef safe??

Unfortunately, your budget is your Achilles heel. Raw Aragonite come from the ocean and will invariably be found in it's purest form in the SW aquarium trade.

OTOH, you'll be surprised just how far a 20# bag will go for your DIY frag plug project. Why not just use up all the material then sell your extra plugs on CL or Ebay and turn your expenses into a profit?

    Just a thought... :)

On average how many plugs you think 100lb portland cement and a 20lb bag of sand make plug wise? (Normal 1") plugs.

You think I would get like 100 plugs?

I'd say at least that many, probably more.

Each plug will only take 1 - 2 teaspoons of sand, depending on the thickness.
