Where do I get my fish?

hello all,

just got my aquarium up and running and want to get some fish. any insight on an online safe sight that I can purchase fish from? Or is it better to go to a store nearby and pick out wish fish I want? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard that liveaquaria and Diver's Den are good sites. iBluewater has some really nice clowns along with donisreef.

 

I think supporting the LFS if they are trustworthy and steer you in the right direction (do your own research on online/3reef as well) you should support them. Ordering fish online is scary to me, I like to see the fish I am getting in person. I tend to think I can tell their personality when I see them LOL. My brother and I were fish "window shopping" on live aquaria tonight for info, but once you pay shipping it turns out to be allot more for the fish than buying from your LFS if they are priced decently. IMO

I have bought fish online with no issues, but I only bought them online because there is only one breeder for those particular clown fish.

 

Go to the local fish store. Fresh water dip all fish. And get to know your lfs, they can order things they normally dont stock and save you the shipping. The online quarantees you get don't cover shipping. I used to order online a lot but I lost more fish doa or within the 14 days then locally at least 7 to 1. Meaning I have lost 7 fish this year due to doa or poor health when they arrive and 1 local. The local one got caught in the overflow, not the health of the fish was the cause.
