where do the ballasts go

    All righty then.....this first picture is of an external ballast, now keep in mind, this is a small one for a single fluorscent light only..MH ballast is a bit larger......see the cord coming down from the fixture and the other end that you plug in...

    Next is a front view of Fluorescent ONLY fixtures, the light colored one in the front has external ballast, the black one behind it has internal ballast....note the size difference (it weighs much more as well, like Matt said before......

    i have a question about the MH ballasts. If i get 2x250 MH pendants, then do i need 2x250 watt ballasts for just one w/ dual outlets.

    On my Coralvue I have two electronic ballasts one for each bulb ,but My LFS guy has one ballast with two 175watt halides and two 110watt VHO. I think it depends on what company you get them from. I think it's better to have seperate ballasts for each thing. If everything goes into one ballast and one thing messes up in the ballast you will have to replace the whole thing.

    so a 250 watt dual ballast is not a good idea.

    No, I don't think so. Others may not agree. Alot of people have one ballast for it all.
