No, I'm saying after setting up your 300 gallon tank with sand, rock, fish, etc. and then the thing breaks - is it worth the couple hundred bucks you saved to buy the tank? That's my point. Just my opinion!

Plus shipping tanks is always a hazard.

Petco.... and Fosters And Smith... are where my tanks come from.

I ordered the 120g for 450$, They ship it on their trucks so you just pay for it when it gets to the store.

I was looking into a 210g, and its only 999.99.... :) I think the reef ready in that size was 100$ more ... So not horrible and you avoid shipping. They are all glass aquariums. Which are pretty decent tanks IMO

If there are any conventions coming up go to the last day and stay till the end. Many people get huge discounts on tanks because vendors don't feel like hauling huge tanks back with them.

i have two different tanks from glasscages one in operation for over a year and another in operation since dec 09. both have similiar build quality and both have been reliable. they were well made from what i can tell. i read the same bad reviews about them that kcbrad was mentioning but i also read a ton of great reviews. i decided in the end that it was worth the $140 to get the tank instead of paying the $320 that my LFS wanted. plus i saved about $200 on shipping because i went and picked it up at a distribution hub instead of having it hauled to my door.

would i buy another tank from them? yes

have i spoken to their customer service department? yes, and it wasnt terrible but not great either. felt like dealing with any other small shop though. nothing negative to say about the experience.

Great input. I am just so crunched for time right now. I want to build mine, but just don't have the time. I am going to sit on the decision a bit and then decide. I am leaning towards GlassCages at the moment.

Keep this in mind: Folks usually only post about a company when they have a bad experience. They rarely post when they have a good one :)

I ordered a custom 180 reef ready with Starphire glass on the front and sides. Was shipped to a pickup spot 40min from my house, driver was cool with helping load into my truck. Tank has been running since 11/2007. The only thing i would have done different is have corner overflow and not standard that are 6in from each side. I have heard of some issue's but I so far haven't had any and would go back to GC.

I recently bought a 20 gallon long acrylic from GC and was impressed with it. It was delivered right to my door and looks great. No complaints from me.

Sometimes you have to take web reviews with a grain of salt. Of you search almost anything, you will find negative opinions. People are more likely to broadcast a bad experience than a good one. There is no one independent source for reviews on aquariums, and something bad could happen no matter where your tank came from. I personally have never ordered from glasscages.com however the fact that they are still in business and have been for several years means that there is more success than failure of their products.
