O.K. my first tank I set up I kept the salinity at 1.022.I have heard that a reef tank fares better at 1.023. So that is where mine now is kept. Now I just heard that 1.024 is better for some corals.Where do you keep yours?

Mine is 1.025 at 80 degrees for a salinity of 36ppt.  This is the most common salinity for the Indo Pacific reefs from which my fish/corals are indigenous.

    WOW, That sounds high Craig!!!!!
I had no clue where do you think mine should be kept?
Like what would be best for life of my tank I have 2 anemones 1 LTA and 1 BTA a percula, a scooter blenney, two shrimp 1 peppermint and one cleaner a flame scallop. I plan on getting another 6 line wrasse as soon as lfs gets one in.
Everything looks healthy(knock on wood). What would be a good first coral to get as I still don't have any? Although I'm pretty sure I could keep one.

I'm in the 1.025 area myself. Actually a wee bit higher.

I try to keep mine around 1.025 with a temp of 80 degrees. I would like for my temp to be a bit lower but short of a chiller that is not gonna happen. Because of the fans that are under the tank for temp control -- one oscillates and one is a computer fan, I have a lot of evaporation from my sump and end up adding RODI water every couple of days. If I skip more than two days my SG goes up 1.0265 or so. Still, everything looks good. I have thought about trying to lower the SG when I do subsequent water changes, but then I think, if it works why change it?!
