I've been reading alot about mushrooms, ricordeas, and yuma but no has said where they place theirs in the tank. Sometimes I can tell by the pictures but I was just curious to know. I'm running out of room on my live rock. :)

depends on the type of lights you have and dimensions of the tank. mainly how tall it is.

They can basically be put anywhere. Keep in mind that mushrooms will overtake a tank pretty quickly.

I have never had a problem with them taking over the tank or even getting to far out of hand. But they have gottenm huge. I am still taking care of Coldshot's tank while is going through physical rehab and a couple month's ago I added two Ricordea's and one was making a baby but never finished the total seperation. There is still about 1/4 of an inch holding them together. I put them in while the baby was being formed. Could the suddenwater change be what has stopped to cloning?

Any place out of high flow will work. I think they can all tolerate intense light, but may do better without it. My ric's and the mushrooms I have left, are all in lower light conditions and do pretty well.

So the sand would be ok too?? I have 3 shrooms but when the expand they are huge. One of the three already seperated and I have a new shroom that is about nickle size. That shroom looks like its gonna spread again. The others don't. I also have a ricordea that hasn't grown bigger than the plug, and I have a yuma that I found out spread under itself on the live rock I bought. I'll take pics. After that I don't know where I would put any other shrooms besides the sand or the back of the live rock.
