theres not much of a reason for this post other than i've read a few threads about flooding your floors while filling water buckets....

this is where i get my water from. i used to pay the LFS $.50 a gallon for RODI until i realized that my boss works for a lab about 10 minutes from my house. with the added bonus of not PAYING FOR WATER! this baby will fill a five gallon jug in 1:35 min. it's going to suck when i have to move.

p.s.- i have no clue what it is or what the output is, all i know is that my tank has no silicate or other issues.

It is straight DI water using seperate anion and cation resins. Good while its working but watch the TDS or conductivity. Once DI resin get close to exhaustion the begin releasing weakly ionized contaminants back into the treated water. A few of these are nitrates, phosphates and silicates. As long as you are reading 0 on a TDS meter go for it!

well there you go, someone knows. i'm a bad reefer, and i have no clue what tds is except that i dont want it. i'm just operating under the assumption that if it's 'clean' enough for laboratory experiments, it's good enough for my lil' tank. when i move back to Iowa i'll have to get my very own RO/DI and learn what tds is...

nope. but they're pretty cheap. when i bite the bullet and buy an RO/DI unit should i grab an inline tds meter too? would i use this to basically tell when my resin and membranes need to be replaced?

I have both, a hand held unit and my R/O DI unit came with dual in-line meters. As long as you have one of them, you should be fine.
