yeah if you dn't type right most people ignore it. anyway, lobsters will like 95% of the time be hiding. It's like my freshwater crayfish; practically the whole dya he'd be in his cave. you usually don't see them, and some aren't reef safe so to avoid that feed them right

You do not need to directly feed him. He is a scavenger and will find his food on his own. However, I have read that purple lobsters are not reef safe and are opportunistic when it comes to soft corals.

After the lights have been off and the tank completely dark for at least an hour get a flashlight and put red cellophane over it to make the light color red. Then go searching in the tank for the purple lobster. You will see it and probably a bunch of activity you haven't ever seen before. The color of the flashlight has to be red or you won't get to see anything for an extended period of time.

If you just put him in I would say in two or three weeks you will find his exoskeleton in the tank. This doesn't mean he is dead, it only means he has molted and for the next 4 days or so after that you will not see him even at night. It just means he's growing, but his new shell isn't full hardened so they usually don't venture too far at that point.

Nearly all lobsters will be willing to pick on corals given the chance and/or the hunger.
