i don't know maybe its me, but it seems to me that the members are starting to disrespect eachother. it's getting to the point that i personaly am affraid to post anything. i think some members are starting to get a little personal. i don't know about the rest but me, i joined this forum to learn how to take care of my reef tank and share the progress, not read a bunch of people bicker about something. gets kinda bla after a while! i read a thread a little while ago about curtacy and repect. i think that person along with some others should practice what they preach. if a 50 year old man gives me addvice and he's been doing it for 20+ years with great success why does someone less than half his age have the odasity to make the older gentalman feel like he's an old foul. i would say thats disrepectful. sorry but i am getting sick of it! to be honest i really dont care who likes it. thats my opinion and you know what there like, and everyone has one.

That's not nessesarily true.. Yes there have been some thread that got a bit heated ( if im thinking on the ones you are thinking)recently but that's because people here are very pationate in this hobby, and seeing someone ignoring good advice gets irritating.

Also, no matter where you go, you will always get differences in opinions, that will lead to a discussion.
If it gets to bad and it's just plainly not civil anymore the administrators can and will take care of it.

It's best to just let them take care of things such as this, or it will be a never ending problem if everyone starts taking action on their own.
Don't take this the wrong way. (please)
But if you just dont like the way a thread is, just get out of it, there is no need for you to read something that you don't like if it's just a click away.

Ps.. You can also notify an administrator if you are having an issue. Just PM them and they will help.

Well.... I have to say that this forum is more of a "family" than most. All families have bad days, given. We here have the ability to overcome our differences and get past issues that may arrive. Very, Very rarely, do I actually have an actual issue with another forum user.

A general respect for everyone on these forums keeps the information flowing. No matter the age, anyone can provide great information on keeping our pets. Just that idea is what makes this place awesome.

i am young. but i agree with this completely...
If I have said anything in the past to offend anyone older and wiser then me, I am sorry... my intentions were not to belittle.

But I also agree that some individuals are making big deals about small meaningless matters. opinions are okay but calling someone out based on their beliefs is rude and disrespectful.

For the most part this is a very good and respectful board. When that fails the mods take care of it quickly. The whole idea is to share information and experience to hopefully allow the original poster to make an informed decision based on hobbyist information not manufacturer or LFS info. The previous post are all good representative responses of this forum.

Swampman Kid--take it with a grain of salt. This is the internet and perhaps what you see as a disadvantage (people are quick to share their opinion), could work to your advantage. I've always been one to seek 100 answers rather than a few. I see it as more grist for the mill. It all comes down to one's ability to distinguish between what's useful to them, and what to let fall away.

If someone doubts the word of your father, and they happen to be younger than even you--it's not necessarily a reflection of disrespect as much as it is a desire to be heard.

Try if you can to filter out the noise and grab what's valuable. There's plenty of value in myriad opinions.

Unfortunately its the internet, and that unfortunately means that for some odd reason people can put on an alter ego and become a lot more hostile/disrespectful than they would be eating Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family in REAL life. I see it all the time on online gaming, forums like this, and youtube none the less. People can let out some aggression via text, whereas if they were to do the same in real life they'd get a beat down. MY advice don't take things too serious, as for me I've learned a lot on here and haven't had anyone bash my face in via words yet. But I see where you are coming from it isn't right there's a difference between giving a strong opinion about your belief/ways than it is to trash talk someone into leaving and not asking or saying something on here.

There's just a couple of kids creating some chaos. Things go in phases. This board is one of the most respectful, civil ones out there.

While i dissagree to some extent, theres a world of info and help on this site with many, many good people, but I do agree, there are a "few"that make it sound as if it's a game of jepordy, seems like they have to outanswer others comments, even when others are correct, they will still come and add their 2cents in,in order to prove who is smarter than who even after the question has been answered.kinda like a powertrip that they're on,which wouldn't bother me,but the general tone of their response does sorta make you feel belittled. So my advise is take it with a grain of salt, the information here is unbeatable.
