Where should I spend my money??

So I just spent WAY too long in my car, thinking about my tank build mainly..

Then it occurred to me, if I'm going to drop nearly 2-2.5 grand on equipment, I should try to get something/more out of it...

I'm looking to purchase
(2) maxspect razor (120 watts 10k, 20inch)
(1 or 2) Vortech Mp40 ES's
(1) Apex Controller + some modules/probes

possibly some other stuff while I'm at it, but the above are the big numbers.

question: What company could I get a benefit with for spending this much $? Discount? Free stuff?


Feel free to tell me I'm out of my mind for thinking I can get any kind of discount/benefit but if someone came to me (and they have) looking to spend more than usual, I would try to get that business...

 

I've used Marine Depot a lot in the past. Their pricing is always very competitive, good customer service, plus I could drive and pick it up directly so no shipping $. I recently have ordered a lot through BRS. Again very competitive pricing, very helpful if you have questions and free shipping with orders $175. They also awards points for every dollar spent, which you can redeem on later purchases. There are a bunch of sponsors here that will likely chime in with deals. Sometimes though you just have to research the hell out of something and find the one place that might be offering what you want at a discount.

Note: Pretty sure Ecotech has some sort of policy that doesn't allow discounting their products

I think their is a "Group Buy" for BRS going on right now, so maybe search out that thread and take advantage

 

I used saltysupply for my apex... and other things. Prices are generally all around the apex would be free shipping and you get bonus points to use on your next order which reduces the price....


Bulk reef supply would be a good one for RODI units with a group buy and such other smaller items IMO.

Fish/Coral - I would stick with divers den on liveaquaria.com but thats just me being a wisconsin fanatic for quality and assurance.

 

I imagine the only way to get a discount is to buy together from your LFS. But, your lfs discount price will probably more then buying them on the Internet. Just my opinion.

 

You did not mention your tank. Do you have that yet?

I do love BRS and buy frequently from them, the problem is that they carry neither the Maxspect or Apex products...

Even when Maxspect and Ecotech have a policy against discount, the discount could show on the apex system, or another item i would order... Hence I want to purchase it all at once.

Something in the shape of store credit, reward points (such as with BRS) or anything else would be fine in my book..

I will look around and probably will end up asking around at certain retailers.. I have already approached my LFS's to see if they can offer what I need.
