I am starting back into the hobby after 10 years off. Got a 90 gal tank that is just done with the cycle phase. Put a small cuc in Tuesday just as the diatoms started to show up. I would love to get a mated pair of clowns in my reef. From what I read besides getting lucky and finding a pair for sale, it is best to buy juveniles. First off is where to find young clowns for sale. Second would it be best to have them as my first fish since no other fish to threaten them as the are young.

Ah what do you have against the little guys? Second favorite fish behind a Picasso trigger. Cant have one of those so clowns will be a must. Besides my young girls would revolt. I can't tell you how many fish I have already had to tell them no on.

clowns arent evil........ are they?!?!?! LMAO Your best bet I think would be to find a breeder and get them direct. Check with your LFS, they may no someone who breeds them.

Clownfish are territorial (this is different ut in such a large tank only large and usually more aggressive clownfish are any problem. What other fish do you plan on getting?

I know larger maroon clowns are nasty but the smaller percs and occies I thought although territorial are not all that bad

I plan a typical reef safe group. Coral beauty, yellow tang. Royal gramma some gobies and long nose hawk
