Hello guys, this is my first post!

I've been around RC for a while and heard that you guys are top notch. I know a lot of you are advanced reefers!

With that being said...I was hoping to get some good advice. I've been struggling with seeding dead Marco rock or just going completely live.

I like the life that TBS has on it's rock! Can anybody tell me where I can get some really pretty LR that is safe? Or if you started a new tank, where you would go to get all your LR!

I really don't feel like fighting Aptasia, or Flatworms, etc, etc. People battle those and many other pests for years as you know.

However, I really like all the diversity that comes on the LR and feel as though I'm missing out if I go with all dead rock.

Thanks for any comments or opinions!

    Kindest and warmest regards,

    Reefahholic...

Your best bet would be to hand pick rock at your lfs, carefully checking for unwanted pests. I would do 50% dry rock and 50% live rock.

Personally I'd just add all dry rock and seed it with a bit of LR from your local spot. Why bother running the risk with adding a large amount of live rock? The only drawback I see is dry rock takes time to lively up. I figure that I have enough trouble keeping pests out that ride in on frags without worrying about the base rock too.

In my experiance I would say there is no sure safe pest free live rock no matter where you buy it unless their rock and tanks are completely sanitized, your bound to get something even coming from your LFS.
