wheres your salinity

Here guys' this is what i have but i'm sure theres other ones out there.
I just know from experiance that "Milwaukee" makes a qaulity one.


And here how one would read it peering thrue the eye piece.

I like to keep mine around 1.023-1.024, it gives a small buffer, although I don't think a slightly higher or lower salinity will really matter much.

 

I know I need one, just havent took the big plunge yet

 

Mine is at 1.025 to 1.027 it has been as high as 1.029, fish and mushroom coral as always looked happy, am gonna bring it down to 1.023 so i have some le-way with evaporation...no water change done yet, although 2 weeks ago i took 25 litres out and added 25 litres pure ro/di water, this did bring it down, to 1.024 but seems like the sandbed gets disturbed and there is still undissolved salt in there,,,hmmmmm...

1.024, haven't had it vary more than .001. A quality refractometer is a must, hydrometers have been know to mess up way too much. Here is the one I have: Premium Blue Refractometer - RHS-10ATC: Premium Aquatics well worth 45 bones. A good refractometer should have Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) also.

 

1.026...Always try to keep it right on the money....Remember what you are testing is Specific Gravity and not Salinity...One thing to keep in mind is that the true value of your specific gravity is based on the temperature reading of your tank...
