which bulb do you run on MH

I just bought a new MH light. I am curious on which bulbs others run and why? 10k,14k,20k and which brand?

I run an Odyssea 20k. It gives the coral an amazing glow, and when mixed with 10 tubes it gives everything a nice white mix.

 

Bluelife South Pacific Sunlight 14k's. Amazing color.

Saw this combination on an RC tank of the month article once and loved the look it gave the tank as well as the obvious success he had with the corals growing in the tank. The article described the many other combinations of ballasts and bulbs he had tried before settling on this combo permanently.

 

I run the XM SE 10,000k 250 MH bulbs.

You can't beat the PAR and the growth rates from a 10,000k bulb.

Now something that you need to remember is that one brand's 14,000k may look like another brand's 10,000k.

One big example of this is the ushio 14,000k 250 bulbs. Those look just like every other company's 10,000k bulbs.

Telgar, was the RC TOTM using those 400w 14k's johns's taank?

If so, he is a member of our local reef club and recently won TOTM. I know he does have 14k 400w, after he tried many other lighting choices.

and after rereading it he is using 12K's not 14k's

 

XM 20k 250

 

Voted 14k because that's what I prefer. Currently running XM 20K but i think I'll go back to 14K. I wanted a little bluer so I may play around with bluer supplements.
