Which fixture would you get?

This one with HQI with geissman actinic+ bulbs

Or a TEK 4bulb T5HO with geissman also

The TEK is unquestionable the better fixture of the 2.

I'm not a fan of the oddysea halide set up eithers, they put out a huge amount of heat and aren't very bright. besides that a rediculous amount of wasted energy for a tank your size.

 

What if I switched out the stock bulbs for phoenix ones?

The aquatraders fixture would definitely put out more light then the tek by sheer virtue of its wattage and 2x250 halides.

However that is so much wasted energy, It's 3x time the wattage you should need for a 60 gallon tank. More wattage equals more heat in this circumstance, so do you have a chiller?

 

Nope, I thought the two fans it comes with would do the trick, also I would add on a third fan.

 

The Tek is more than adequate for your needs. You would only need 175W MH bulbs for the tank anyway. I would rather use 216W than 608W any day.

 

While every body's set up works a little different, I'm willing to bet at 12 watts per gallon you will need a chiller.

 

And a large one at that
