Well for what its worth you named 2 of the least of the better bulbs.. As for sticking with what is known ?? Had I had that mind set I'd still be using 5500 K. Iwakie's/ Hamalitons/Red Sea LOL Great bulb to grow corals out with on a commercial bases butt ugly for a home tank rough on the eye's :) But tough and last about 2.5 yrs with not much detectable color shift . I have ran them for over 3 yrs myself..before changing them out. Good luck with what ever you choose though.

Your landlord is the one that pays electricity  Pretty cool. In my area you pay for rent and everything else including electricity, water, etc..

IBM, same here, i think the only thing you get for free is basic cable...

Leslie, if you aren't concerned with possibly paying a little more money, i'd get what everyone else is suggesting, and if the landlord happens to ask you about the extra use of power, offer to pay a little extra or something... better yet, ask him beforehand if you can add some lights that will add to the bill, ya never know what can happen unless you ask the right people!

I use 10000K ReefLux on my tank and love the color and what they've done for my corals.
