    are you sure it was him and that the urchin had not perished before and he was just cleaning up? did you notice of the thorns on your urchin have been shedding or falling off recently? also as mentioned you HAVE to add more empty shells or it will for sure chop up your snails to get a new home

    Snails are no morethan half inch and hermit is 3".... none of the snails have died as of now... I had this urchin since past 5mnths.... as soon as I added hermit, I had gone out of town for 5days and its gone... I saw everywhere.... :(
