Cosmo-how old is your tank? Remember that chaeto thrives on nutrients also. It's our main reason for using it. You've added a skimmer that is probably taking more away. Also how often are you doing WC?

I read a post on growing chaeto once.

The OP had tried three diff. ser ups, for about a year.

Hands down the best was a CFL light bulb in a funnel like alum hood/reflector.
It was a CFL in the 5000K range. He tried the 24hr vs 12hr, etc.
the 5000K with the 12hr was hands down the best growth, he even had picks before and after months, etc.

And of course, lighting it opposite the DT keeps the Ph more constant.

Using his first hand research, etc., that's what I do in my sump, and my chaeto is growing like wildfire! I hand turn it every few days.

    Hope this helps

    nan i think you're right!

Tank is about 3 months old now, corralline is starting to grow great, but i have a HUGE CUC in it that may be too goo of a job! i have to target feed the urchin and big snails/conch!

5% water change a week! don't think i have enough to warrant more or even that!
