Please tell me which model of these 2 is the 2009 version. If it is the 1st one, we've got problems and a pain in the @$$. And yes, they are both the same model, same exact skimmer, just a different year version

and i guess this has to be moved to the skimmer board now that im asking this, but is it normal for the skimmer to run at this low of a level "during break in"? or is it the water level in the sump? Again, if its the water level in the sump, im S-K-R-E-W-E-D

As you can see the water level in the sump isnt low... thats why im saying im skrewed if its because its too low

They go by the water level in the sump. They are optimized for 8 to 12 inches in the sump just like the ASM's.

How long has yours been breaking in? (BTW, I don't see a pic of your sump)

EDIT: I do now see the pics but the original question still needs to be asked. How long has it been breaking in?

The water level is at 8.5 inches, and i just plugged it in a little over an hour ago, thats why i said about the break in. Ive heard of way too much bubbles but i didnt know if there was such thing as too little. The 2nd pic is my sump

    LOL

Don't worry about it. Oils needed for the manufacturing of skimmer act a surfactants and reduce bubbles. Those will be gone shortly. That is why they call it a break-in period.

I have no clue which is the 2009. Actually, I don't care. The 2008 model was a good skimmer just like the ASM's that came before it so it really doesn't matter. Either way, it's a good skimmer.

A break-in period is weeks, not hours. If you want to see it skim, go nab a couple of gallons of vinegar and a bucket and get rid of the oils from the acrylic by running the skimmer in that overnight. Then rinse it off, and put it back in your sump.

I completely understand nor did i expect it to break in yet. I just didnt know if too LITTLE bubbles were ever reported during break in and if it was normal ;) :) Just making sure because i didnt want to wait 2 weeks (or 3) just for it to not work after that too.

Thanks so much! Karma to ya!

Sounds like your are a little overly concerned here. The skimmer will work, unless you have some chemical/compound in your water that causes the bubbles to break before they get to the top) Just give it time. No need to be worried or concerned yet.

[STRIKE]I guess[/STRIKE] I know your right. I just said to my self that it was just the break in period and it'll be fine but then im looking at all these pictures of "24 hours after" skimmate so i just had to make sure.
