OK, i KNOW THIS HAS BEEN ASKED BEFORE. Which new mh bulb should I get. I currently use Hamilton 14k's. One broke & I was thinking of going with 2 new phoenix 15's or maybe even some 20k or would that be too blue with my blue antics t5's. Any ideas. Thanks.

I just switched my tank to 20K's. I found that if you mix it with some 10K accent bulbs it gives your corals an amazing glow. Everything fluoresces like when it's under moonlights.

I also use 20K 2x250 MH and 4x96 PC (2 10K, 2 Actinic)....The higher K just penetrates the water farther and is used for deeper tanks..other than that it is just a preference...like he said above, it does give your tank an amazing glow.

I recently switched to XM 250W 20K from BlueLife SPS 14K. I love them both and can't decide which I like better. I enjoy the blue from the XM but I may play around with different actinics and a lower K combo for growth. There are so many variables such as what actinics you have, ballast... I wish I could sit and try a bunch of different bulb combos to see what I really like.

A Lot of higher K bulbs actually have lower PAR values meaning less penetration. But the key is always your Ballast. For example my BlueLine E-Ballast has really bad performance with XM 20K bulbs but the best performance with EVC Tech bulbs.
Do a google search for Sanjay Lighting and you can find bulb and Ballast testing for a lot of combinations of bulbs
