You don't want a skimmer more than about 2x what you need. That is just a figure I pull out of my rear, but any bigger and the skimmer starts to not work right. you have to compensate for it in other ways, and it actually sarts to pull less than a skimmer rated fro your tank will. but you are still ok with what you said you want..... but that is why I say be realistic about what your future plans are. You will be better off getting something that will work with what you have then screwing with it on a small system and never going bigger.

It is more than reasonable to turn your skimmer off. Plenty of people do. I still want mine running 24/7 though just for the oxygenation and gas exchange.

I'll second Otty's suggestion. I have a Precision Marine 125 red unit, it's really well made and does a great job. I read alot of folks running the units you mention but feel PM is a great underated choice.

ASM is the best. Look at all the designs out there. The shortest path between two points is a straight line. ASM skimmers have no special bells and whistles to adjust and are very simple because the design is perfect. Ask anyone who has one for there input. ::)

Iraf, I also run an ASM G2 on my 180G. What I did was upgraded to the Sedra 5000 instead of the 3,500. Works like Magic. IMO.

I sure hope so! I am tired of going to school full time and working full time for minimum wage! I guess Boise is not really a hot spot for international business though. ;)

Awesome think. That PM Bullet 2 looks like it was made exactly for me...even the specs say for a 100 G tank looking to upgrade to a 250G! Awesome.

Thanks for the input. I was looking at ASM but am unsure what model I would choose.
