I am trying to decide which fish to get next for my 90g. I like the purple and yellow fish, and am trying to choose between the royal gramma and the bicolor pseudochromis. Based on the experiences of those here, which do people recommend? Is one easier to keep than the other? Are they very different in terms of size/activity? Any info on peoples' experiences would be much appreciated.

How do you feel about cleaner shrimp? I ask because both of those fish have the potential to rid you of your present and future shrimp.

I don't have any cleaner shrimp (look too much like big bugs for my taste). But I didn't know that both of these fish eat cleaner shrimp.....how does a 3" fish eat such a large thing as a cleaner shrimp?

I was unaware that grammas had a tendancy to go after ornamental shrimp, but they are a basslet so it isn't massively surprising. I have a gramma in now with a pair of peppermints and a cleaner and no issues to report. He was a little aggressive/territorial when first introduced and would chase everybody away from his cave rock but has calmed down a lot and is now peaceful and even shy.

We went back and forth on finding a purple and yellow fish ourselves and finally decided on the Bicolor Blenny after reading how personable they were. Haven't picked him up yet, will get him this weekend but hadn't heard anything about them taking out shrimp or other member of the CUC....

Very slowly  Sorry. When shrimp molt, their exoskeletons are soft and this is usually when fish like the ones you mention take advantage of their vulnerable condition.

Anybody have thoughts on keeping a pair of grammas in the same tank? One of my local reefers needs to find a home for a fish and I do love them. Most of the reading I have done said that a pair is OK, but I am not sure if they mean general pair or mated pair.

My absolute favorite purple and yellow fish is the purple tang. Your tank might be a liitle crowded for one of these with a yelloe and a regal in there already though.

By far the nicest purple and yellow fish. I'll be getting one when I get my new tank. They really do require lots of space.
The Royal Gramma is a very nice fish. I'm thinking about getting some next week to try to start a breeding program.
Personally, I'd go with the bi color or diadema psuedochromis. Since the grammas would harm your shrimp that is;)
