yes, yet another which one to buy question...but I trust public opinion more than a sellers opinion:

Do I want a recirculating model?

    Reef Octopus 4" Recirculating Skimmer

Or a Pinwheel thingie? (whatever that does)
Reef Octopus 6" Pinwheel In Sump Skimmer

...I noticed the pinwheel models are cheaper (relative to size) ...but whats the difference...also I'm OK with in sump models FWIW

...if anyone has rec's for a skimmer under $250, I'm all ears (esp. if they come loaded with a pump or c an use my existing Quiet One 2200)

The six inch. While the 4 is rated for your tank it is right at the recomended capacity. Most people in general recommend 1 to 1 1/2 times tank cap. So 6" ie 150 gal a better choice.

The skimmer sticky was indeed informative....and indeed, thanks!!!
I always ask around anyway tho

...cuz you probably already well know how gadgets can get "trendy" on these forums...sometimes the deep wallet dudes and techies can make us po folk feel a lil "inadequate" he he

...but then again sometimes products become popular b-cuz they simply perform well...my gut tells me the Reef Octopus could fit in that category

I have a eshopps myself but that's cause I got it for less than half price. Besides that I am an Internet searching cheap skate that tries my best to get the most for me money. Ha ha. Having said that i just happened to find my skimmer the same day I was going to but a reef octo. So I don't own one but off my research I would recommend one.

I'm pretty much sold then, but still can't lock down whats the better value and why: Recirulating 4" or pinwheel 6" ? (they are both about the same price...sorta)
