My Reef Creations make beautiful skimmers they are not cheap, but everyone that I have spoken to that has one loves it.

ETSS have proven through the years to be pretty awesome... but some people are considering them to be getting "out of date." bubble king is amazing but they also cone with an amazing price tag lol

Cheaper alternatives would be reef octopus or maybe even swc. Just remember skimmers are not something to cut corners on!

once you get up to 300G tanks Bubble king is really not that much higher priced
I would suggest Bubble King 300
    Vertex Alpha Cone 250
    Deltec SC or TC 2560

Much much better oth there than ASM. Very over rated.

Aquamaxx, Reef Octopus, SWC, Skimz have plenty to chose from for that size. ATB, Alpha, and Bubble King are awsome, but something tells me that isn't the price range being considered.

But ya, a decent skimmer for that size is not cheap.

I love my ETSS Reef Devil Deluxe. But whatever he ends up going with, get bigger than your tank size.

Another option as I have seen on some public tanks is 2 seperate skimmer systems. I mention this since you/he already has 1.
