I run the reef octopus 4" on my 90 gal/25 sump and love it. Can't say about the others, but it looks like any way you go, you'll be getting a quality skimmer.

OK... out of the three... you have the wrong one. You need the Octopus extreme 200. The SWC will have a better build than the BM... but they have the same pump. The new Sicce on the Extreme 200 is a much much better pump for the same money. The 200 will out do both the SWC and BM at this range. All the skimmer you will ever need for that setup.

the Octopus extreme 200 is a bit more then i was hoping to spend around $325.

250 was as high as I was hoping to go.

is there a better choice then the one i have listed in the 200 to 250 price range?

try craigslist, i have found tons of equipment on there. the bonus of buying a skimmer used is it is already broken in so it works well right away

Look into Eshopps PSK-150 and PSK-200 models. They are well built. I have the 150 on my 75 and it has done well by me.

I agree with 2in10. I have a PSK100H that has never given me any problems.

My bad.. I don't know what I was thinking. I thought it was $250. Don't know where I saw that.

No worries.... understandable. So the SWC and the BM are good skimmers. both will suit you well. The Octo NW 150 is another good one. Nothing special pump wise to put it over the top. All three will suit you well.

About the only other one I think you should look at is a Vertex IN -100

    VX-IN100 Premium Aquatics - VX-IN100 Aquarium Supplies

The numbers are a little low... but it is not about the numbers. A very very well designed and balanced skimmer. Probably the best bang for the buck on the market.

I would put the Eshops cones in the same tier as the BM NAC-7. As far as their cylinders... there is much better. And until they get their pump problems fixed, I would look else where. Not saying they can't get it fixed, or they won't get it fixed... these things happen.... but there are other alternatives without the worry. Sorry, just how I see it. YMMV.
