hello everybody and thanks for you input in advance,

I have a 90 gallon oceanic tank. Currently I have fish only but in the next few month i am hoping to have full reef.

I am having trouble finding a skimmer that will fit in my Sump. As you can see in the picture the bioball container is on the left side, 7" to the right of it is a divider that houses a larger sponge, then small 4" space for the return pump.

So total space for skimmer and pump is < 7" x 10.5". All the good skimmer like PM bullet, ETSS, Reef octopus need more foot print. so what do you guys think?

    Thanks

I would consider ditching the sump you have and DIY a 20g long or a 30g standard. The 20g long is (30x12x13) (LxWxD). I have actually made mine into a fuge/sump with a simple acrylic divider that is 6" in height with about 4" eggcrate. My ETSS fits no problem. The dimensions of the 30 standard are (36x12x16). Unless you have a side entrance, it would be difficult to get under your tank. The 20 long cost about $70 to put together myself. I had to buy the tank, a length of acrylic, some silicone (aquarium safe)and some eggcrate.

Jeez.....just make it into a tank. It'll skim itself.

Absolutely. When you can afford a great skimmer, but are limited by the size of your sump, replace the sump--as PharmrJohn said, if it's possible to move the old one out and a new one in.

If it were me (and it was me, when I made the change to go reef from FOWLR), I'd consider moving the DT off the stand just to get a new sump underneath if it came down to it. The time to do it right is always "now," IMO. You're in the early stages and haven't set everything up fully yet. Now is the time! :) Don't set yourself up to kick yourself later.
