I was tempted but since I will be starting from scratch it will cost more for the 1st one to get past the learning curve then buying a good model. Maybe down the road if I have the time and extra money I will get a chance to fool around with one.

I think my last skimmer cost me around $350 to build. For that money I could have gotten a nice Octopus. But building it myself got me a skimmer that could skim it under the table.

That Deltec was like $7500. It was sold before it arrived at the show. I know the guy who bought it. I think he was trying to impress his hot girl friend...I think I have a pick around somewhere.

    A1Amap that is a SKIIIMMMMMER!!!!

Octopus makes some nice skimmers in the lower price ranges.

I use a MRC3 it is a good skimmer, but for the money I would not buy it again.

Well mine was in the basement for the last few years until my 2 year old dumped some Dial in the tank to "clean the fish."

I'm not one that is convinced that you have to have these but I only keep fist too so may be a bit skewed in my opinion.

The guy at the LFS happened to be out one night in the same bar as me, and as the cops hauled him out I decided to help him out by posting his bail at the station. He paid me back the next day and also gave me an ETSS 600 and this thing pulls alot of "mud" out of my tank. I've got a 2 liter bottle hooked to the overflow chamber and that fills up a few times each week. So I have nothing but good things to say about how it works, just one adjustment when in gets broken in and forget it.
