i have a swc 120 cone and it really does a great job. also when i had a problem with it having a bad impeller in the first month. swc sent the part right out. i know the owner is going threw some stuff at this time, and hopefully things won't be so bad for him. all i can say is he treated me right. and my swc skimmer really works well and is quiet, which is important to me.

I have found the SWC used for a great deal. and someone else suggested that it has the most reliable pump, and easy to find a replacement. and you can take it apart for cleaning, unlike the other 2. But I really like the reef octopus as well. But I think the deal I found is going to sell me.

Look into the sc-150 cone skimmer I reviewed. It's a great skimmer with a great price tag

Go with your gut on this one.The octo is the way to go.I run the nw110 on my 75 and the thing skims like a champ. It started skimming for me within about 3 hrs out of the box.At work almost all of the skimmers we run are octo.

I always seem to go with ROs, and haven't regretted it yet. I've tried other brands, without as much luck, but none mentioned. I always hear about pump issues with SWC. Don't know if they fixed them. I guess other brands have pump issues, but I don't hear nearly as many issues and there are more of them out there, so, if there were a lot of issues, I'd tend to think you'd hear more about them. That's just my .02 though. I haven't heard anything bad about Vertex though, but haven't tried one....

Vertex all the way for me. I run a 250 for my 180 - It's easy and never let me down.
