I have a purple tang that seems to get along very well with everyone. Although my LFS owner had one in his tank that he had to take out. It didn't get along with anyone. So, I guess there is no definite answer. I was told to put food in the tank before putting new fish in with the tang. I guess it's sort of a distraction. It worked for me.

Purple tangs and Blue hippos are famous for getting ick, esp when stressed or when first introduced. I was amazed that my Dory survived when I first put her in...now she is mean also and went after my blue jaw trigger pair! I would not pay as much as what purple tangs go for.

I had a yellow tang and it was an awesome grazer, however it became very mean and would not let me put in any other fish....it did not mattter what body type it was it would go after them and peck them to death. It killed a wrasse once.

I personally love the Deserjani (sp???) salfin tang and the naso tang, however I do understand that both get big over time.

My purple tang did get ick, or had it when I purchased it. I treated the tank twice and he actually survived. I was amazed that it worked. So it is possible.

They are very different fish. I have never had him nip at things he shouldn't or aggressive at all! The yellows I have seen are just blah to me because they don't have the personality.

My convict is also like this. It is a good thing I have digital because I have to delete alot of my pics. He eats out of my hand and lets me pet him. He come to check out what I am doing in the tank everytime I am in there! I just love him. He is my favorite. I didn't think I would like him because he is kinda plain looking but personality makes up for it in 10 fold.:sweethear:sweethear

Well his name is Luke from the movie Cool Hand Luke if you have seen it you know what I mean! .......No he has never tried to escape!!!!

If/when we break down the tank, you're welcome to ours but you may want to quarantine it in case it's carrying any bryopsis spores on/in its body
