I have had the same fish in my tank for a loooooong time and now that I have an appropriate skimmer for my size tank and I have very good water quality, I was looking into getting another tang.

Here's the background of my tank.

I have 2 fish that might get in the way and those are my foxface rabbitfish and a blue hippo tang.

    My tank is 120g 4X2X2

    very good water quality

Not a lot of water turbulence but there is a decent amount

The three tangs I am looking into getting are the sohal tang, powder blue tang and and achilles tang. Which one would I be better off getting? I am also open to other options of tangs.

IMHO - all 3 of those are not the most ideal candidates.

I feel you would be better off with a bristletooth tang such as a tomini or yellow-eye kole tang. Both of those are on the smaller end for tangs.

PBT are absolute ICH magnets - and in a smaller tank it's only a matter of time until it takes others down with it.

They all need 6 to 8 foot long tanks for swimming room and stress reduction. Yellow, Purple amd Regal Tangs would work along with any bristletooth tang.

sohals way too large for that tank, pb freaking ich magnets, achilles definitely not one of the easiest tangs to keep.

Agree with everyone's comments here. IF you were to get another tang, look at tangs with dissimilar body shapes and colors to your blue hippo. That will reduce the aggression/territorial behavior. I have a yellow tang with my hippo, and while it's an ordinary fish, they hang out all day as best friends.

Yea, I know that sohal's are agressive and need more swimming room than others and have decided against it based on agression alone, the achilles I am leaning more towards just based on the look of it, its a friendlier fish, and I would be basing my tank around him as it is my favorite fish of all, and not to mention I have no black at all in my tank, the powder blue is an easier fish to keep than the achilles but I already have a bit of blue in my tank.

Out of the ones listed, the Powder blue would be ideal if you had to choose from the 3. I would cross out the sohal all the way. They just get to large and are crazy swimmers. The achilles wont be happy in that tank unless it is turbulent. I have 5 larger hydro powerheads in my tank and it seems to be just enough to keep mine preoccupied.

tbh they are all to big for a four foot tank. Your probably better off getting a smaller tang, like a yellow for example.
